The regional authority has placed Rhodes at the forefront of its strategy due to its central role as a major tourist hotspot and as one of the region’s best performing destinations. The far-reaching scheme was given the go-ahead following a meeting this week between South Aegean Prefect George Hadjimarkos, Rhodes Hoteliers Association President Antonis Kambourakis and South Aegean Region Deputy Prefect Marietta Papavasiliou. The Rhodes action plan has shifted its focus to the use of modern engagement strategies, new technologies and the Internet as well as tapping into targeted groups and promoting specialized tourism options. The South Aegean Region said it is working to put into effect its new strategy in view of a challenging year ahead and in efforts to ensure that sector professionals and employees will not be faced with setbacks.
