Russia’s largest amateur regatta abroad, with the participation of some 150 athletes, will set sail from Rhodes and will travel to the neighbouring islands of Halki, Tilos, Nisyros and Symi. The event is sponsored by Volvo, which will also be presenting its new model on the sidelines. Russian TV and international media will offer news coverage. “We have been working regularly throughout the year in order to be able to host major sporting and cultural events. We are paving new ground by showcasing Rhodes as one of the most well organized and leading marine tourism destinations, with obvious benefits for our island and for the Dodecanese,” said Rhodes Mayor Fotis Chatzidiakos. The second regatta will be held on June 4-10, with participants from Europe, Asa and Africa. The Rhodes Municipality has also agreed through Phoenix Yachting to take part in Düsseldorf’s sea tourism exhibition this year.
