The Council will have an advisory role on the basic principles of policy development in various sectors of the economic and social development of the Greek islands. The Council will also advise on the design and implementation of island policies. The president of the Council for Island Policy is the secretary general for the Aegean, Yiannis Yiannelis-Theodosiadis. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who will preside over the Council, is expected soon to attend the Council’s first meeting to define the political priorities of the Government in exercising island policies.
