Kostas Tzevelekos_Lufthansa_Konstantinos Tzevelekos has been appointed by the Lufthansa Group as its General Manager in Greece & Cyprus, effective as of January 29. The new GM will head the company’s Athens office and be responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing and representation of Lufthansa in both countries.

Known as “Kostas”, Tzevelekos has worked at Lufthansa since 1992, rising through the ranks of the Athens-based branch. During his 24-year tenure he has held numerous managerial positions, garnering many skills in almost every department, including: ground handling, operations, cargo, and customer service. Since 2010 he is the Regional Sales Manager for Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and SWISS leading a team of account managers in both Greece & Cyprus.

Tzevelekos succeeds Harro Julius Petersen, who is retiring from Lufthansa at the end of January and returning to his home town of Hamburg in Germany. For almost four years Petersen represented the Lufthansa Group successfully in the Greek and Cypriot markets, increasing the airline group’s market share as well as forging strong ties with the travel industry and business community even during periods of crisis.

The Lufthansa Group operates 29 flights per week from Athens to Frankfurt, Munich and 9 by Austrian Airlines from Athens and Thessaloniki to Vienna as well as 17 flights to Zurich and 6 to Geneva by Swiss. From Larnaca, Lufthansa is operating 2 flights per week to Munich and 7 flights per week to Vienna by Austrian.
