Turkey’s 20th EMITT Sees Over 55,000 Visitors Through its Doors

Celebrating its 20th year, the East Mediterranean Tourism and Travel Exhibition – EMITT was the center of attention of the tourism and travel sector last month in Istanbul with an outcome of new business opportunities on a national and international level and exciting vacation deals for vacationers.

As one of the top five tourism exhibitions in the world, EMITT 2016 was visited by 56,124 unique visitors comprising professionals of the industry and consumers making vacation plans.

“EMITT Tourism Exhibition became one of the biggest meeting points for not only the Turkish tourism industry but also for the global tourism industry. We reached a participant profile encompassing 70 countries in our 20th year”, said ITE Turkey Tourism & Travel & Fashion Group Director Hacer Aydın.

Tuyap Exhibition and Convention Center, Istanbul.Organized by Ekin Fuarcılık and EUF – E Uluslararası Fuarcılık, the affiliates of ITE Turkey, which is the organizer of leading exhibitions for leading industries of Turkey, EMITT 2016 took place in 11 halls equaling to a total exhibition space of 70 thousand meter squares at Tuyap Exhibition and Convention Center during January 28-31.

Istanbul’s meeting point for the travel industry hosted a total of 4,500 companies, organizations and resorts from 70 countries. Exhibitors included national pavilions, Turkey’s vacation destinations, winter and outdoor tourism destinations, hotels and tourism centers, tour operators, agencies and hotels.

“In addition to being a commercial platform bringing together the professionals of the tourism industry, EMITT is also the ideal address for vacation enthusiasts. Starting with the third day of the exhibition, our visitors had a chance to discover vacation destinations from USA, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Philippines, South Africa, India, Iran, Italy, Korea, Cuba, Maldives, Egypt, Panama, Sarajevo, Thailand, Vietnam, Greece as well as over 200 tourism destinations from 81 cities in our country”, Ms  Aydın said.

As part of its 20th year celebrations, EMITT exhibition offered vacation alternatives for every budget at attractive prices and with “early booking” discounts.

Bringing together every year tourism professionals, tourism companies and resorts from Turkey and all over the world, EMITT hosted panels whereby tourism industry and health tourism were discussed in its 20th year. At the panels and sessions held as part of the exhibition, experts discussed the future of Turkish tourism. At the panels featuring discussion topics like “Brandization in Tourism”, “Health Tourism” and “New Trends in Tourism”, representatives of the sector made presentations and delivered speeches.

Festival vibe

EMITT 2016The exhibition was also the stage for different activities and shows performed by different national pavilions and regional stands. With different activities ranging from regional folk dance performances to dance performances from different countries and from folk songs to ancestral sports activities, the exhibition had a festival vibe. At the exhibition where local food from different parts of Turkey were showcased as well.

ITE Group organizes eight tourism and travel exhibitions in five countries all of which are the leading events in their fields in their specific regions.

The 21st EMITT will be held in January 2017.
