Boasting more than 400 million monthly users uploading some 353 million travel-related posts, it’s no wonder Instagram is gaining ground over Twitter thanks to the engaging power of the visual. But which destinations across the globe topped posts in 2015?

According to the popular online mobile photo-sharing service, the Top 10 most geotagged locations for 2015 were Disney properties, Universal Studios properties, Times Square and Central Park in New York City, the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum in Paris, the Dodger Stadium in LA, Santa Monica Pier, Madison Square Garden and Russia’s Red Square.

But despite the social network’s growing popularity, the travel industry is the second slowest after financial services to adopt the app, according to travel industry intelligence and marketing platform Skift.

Tourism insiders are pointing to the far-reaching influence of Instagram primarily due to vacationers eagerly posting travel content and tagging their locations, which could go a long way towards inspiring others to hit the road. What’s more, Instagram is gaining ground among younger demographics.
