Greek farmers have taken to the streets with tractors and trucks, blockading road networks across the country for weeks on end in protest to the government’s controversial pension reform. “We ask for your understanding and ask of you to take the necessary actions so that the students and accompanying teachers will be able to reach their destinations without any problems and in safety,” the HATTA letter said, and further urged farmers to “ensure the conditions for the safe transportation of students”. HATTA expressed concern on behalf of families, schools as well as travel operators arranging the school excursions, which are taken annually by high-school students and which begin on April 23.
