Travel Trade Athens 2016 is scheduled to take place October 2-3 in the Greek capital. In its fourth year, the trade event will host selected international buyers focused on Athens and Greece. The event will host over 85 tourism professionals, including tour operators and conference organizers, and distinguished journalists from the United States and Europe. The event will give participating tourism enterprises and professionals from Athens and other Greek destinations the opportunity to attend pre-arranged B2B meetings with the hosted buyers from abroad to present their services and products and discuss cooperation possibilities. “The Travel Trade Athens event has become an important institution of Athens tourism and a hub to develop business relations and partnerships”, Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis said in an announcement, adding that this year a special emphasis will be given to congress tourism. “We aim to accommodate a large number of conference organizers and journalists dealing with congress tourism”, Mayor Kaminis said. The trade event was first introduced in 2013 as part of the strategy of the Municipality of Athens to promote the Greek capital within the international tourism market and inform foreign businesses and professionals on the destination’s tourism product and services. The three previous events (2013, 2014, 2015) saw more than 6,000 B2B meetings take place between hosted buyers and tourism businesses of Athens and Greece. The three events hosted some 200 buyers from 29 countries. The Travel Trade Athens will also include a three-day hospitality program and an extensive acquaintance program of the Greek capital to present the tourism portfolio and competitive advantages of Metropolitan Athens as a tourism destination.
