In addition to new routes, Messinia will also welcome two new carriers this season. As of this April, British Airways will launch two flights a week from London Heathrow every Thursday and Saturday, Vueling will operate one flight from Rome – Fiumicino, Italy, on Fridays and Aegean Airlines will add six new flights from Milan (Tuesday), Copenhagen (Monday), Billund (Monday), Paris (Tuesday), Lyon (Tuesday) and Nantes (Saturday). The tourism season began recently for Messinia, with the luxury resort Costa Navarino opening for the 2016 season and flights of Aegean Airlines arriving to Kalamata from Munich, Düsseldorf and Stockholm. Aegean’s flights will run until the last week of November. The new flights to Messinia are expected to bring an additional 25,000 visitors to the Peloponnese region this season. Meanwhile, the direct revenue from the increase in visitors in Messinia for 2016 is expected to reach some 17.5 million euros.
