Syntagma_eventsMarking the last week of meat before Lent and the beginning of carnival season (Apokria), the City of Athens invites young and old to four days of food and fun beginning at 6pm on Ash Thursday, March 3, at Syntagma Square.

The municipality has organized a series of happenings including traditional carnival parades, food sampling, plenty of song and dance as well as presentations of local products from 10 regions of Greece during the “A Small Greece in Athens” event.

Organized with the support of the Thessaly, Attica, Central Greece, Northern Aegean, Southern Aegean, Crete, East Macedonia & Thrace, Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia and Peloponnese regions, the four-day carnival extravaganza will also include stands at Syntagma Square where each region will showcase its local products through on-the-spot tastings, and present their most famous carnival customs and traditions.

Opening hours: Thursday-Friday, 6pm-10pm; Saturday-Sunday 11am-3pm.
