According to media reports, officials on other islands are making plans to step in and get a piece of the pie. Among the destinations already gaining ground as a cruise port of call is the Cycladic isle of Syros, which is seeing increased traffic for 2016. Other destinations looking to attract cruise travelers include the islands of Paros, Milos and Ios, as well as mainland locations including Nafplio, Alexandroupolis and Kavala.
