The city’s latest four-year plan (to 2019) aims to focus on branding and web/social media through www.travelioannina.com, strategy and presence, destination management – promotion & campaigns, establishing Ioannina as a MICE destination and benchmarking customer satisfaction. The long-term strategy aims to tap into new markets, including the Balkan countries, Russia, Israel, Cyprus, and the emerging markets of China, India and Japan. Areas of focus include ecotourism, 50+ travel, leisure, gastronomy, culture, luxury, conference and training. Panoramic view of the city of Ioannina in Epirus. The project is made possible through the collaboration of the Ioannina Municipality, Ioannina Chamber and the Ioannina Hoteliers Association as well as local sector professionals with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization. Ioannina Mayor Thomas Begas expressed his satisfaction that for the first time the city is moving ahead with a well-researched plan.
