logo_ATTICA_enAiming to promote its various destinations, products and advantages for year round tourism, the Region of Attica on Thursday launched a new promotional video on the sidelines of the ITB Berlin trade fair.

The video shows the world the 10 reasons that make Attica “simply irresistible”: sunny climate, facilities, shopping, wine, nightlife, islands, sailing & yachting, gastronomy, culture and the people.

The video is part of a wider new tourism strategy announced by the region, which includes the promotion of unknown and authentic destinations and aims to attract more visitors and increase the length of stay.

According to Eleni Dimopoulou, the executive regional councillor for tourism promotion of the Region of Attica, the aim at ITB is to promote the region as a “short break” destination, a step further than a “city break” destination, in an attempt to boost the overnight stays of visitors.

“We have destinations, sites and products that can easily fill a five-day vacation of a tourist”, Ms Dimopoulou told GTP.

Visitors for example can visit Athens center, see the sites, shop and then head for the Athenian Riviera, which is on very close distance.

“We are also promoting sailing and yachting in Athens/Attica here at ITB… Tourists can come to Athens, rent a boat at a very reasonable price and take a special journey to the nearby islands of the Saronic Gulf and the Aegean. This is the best way to see the coast of Attica.”

Also, through its new strategy, the Region of Attica plans to promote its lesser known destinations such as Elefsina, Lavrio and Kythira.
