As most financial and economic sanctions against Iran have now been lifted, the country has become a global business point of interest. Iran is a nation of 80 million and the two companies have joined forces to attract its outbound tourists to Greece. “The aim of the local office of Turkish Airlines in Greece is to become a strategic partner of the country’s tourism industry”, Alp Yavuzeser, General Manager of Turkish Airlines to Athens, said. During the fam trip, the Iranian travel agents had the opportunity to get to know Athens’ most significant spots and to explore cities and historical sites of Greece, such as Nafplio and Epidaurus. “Our cooperation with local institutions and important companies in the sector such as Travel Plan, reinforces our commitment”, Mr Yavuzeser said. According to Mr Yavuzeser, the recent fam trip was just part of a series of activities planned for 2016. “As part of the further development of Travel Plan’s activities in incoming tourism, we are very happy that we had the opportunity to welcome in our country important tourist representatives of Iran, a market that can offer a lot to Greece”, Kostas Giokas, General Manager of Travel Plan for Greece & UAE, said. “We would like to emphasize particularly, that our long-term close cooperation with Turkish Airlines is a key factor in our efforts”, he added.
