Between 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, March 19, the NJV Athens Plaza will dim the lights on the hotel facade, in the Lobby and the Plaza Café. The hotel is also encouraging its room guests to participate in the event, by reducing the power consumption in their rooms. This Earth Hour, individuals across the world are shining a light on climate action. Since it first began in Sydney Australia in 2007 by WWF, the number of countries taking part in Earth Hour has grown to an incredible 172 countries and territories – a number that keeps rising every year. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to Asia to the Americas have stood in darkness during previous Earth Hours. Some people enjoy Earth Hour with a candle-lit dinner or a candle-lit bath, while others host large events or parties, either in darkness or with candles, to celebrate the one thing we all have in common — our planet.
