The 5th Athens Half Marathon saw Konstantinos Gelaouzos clock in at 1:08.35 and Rania Rebouli in the women’s category at 1:16.57 paving the way for their participation in the European Athletics Championships Amsterdam 2016 to be held in July. Photo © Vassilios Koutroumanos Jointly organized by the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS), the Municipality of Athens and the Attica Region, the mega sporting event also included 3km and 5km runs. Half Marathon winners in the men’s category were Christoforos Merousis, who came second after Gelaouzos with a time of 1:09.27 and Kostas Poulios clocking 1:09.34. Of the women competitors following Ms Rebouli were Anastasia Karakatsani with a time of 1:17.23 and Magda Gazea with 1:18.54. Athens Half Marathon 2016 winner in the women’s category: Rania Rebouli. Photo © Vassilios Koutroumanos In the 3km run, Nikos Sakis clinched first place with a time of 8:71, Kostas Drosos came second and Panagiotis Dimopoulos third. Women runners Zoi Andrikopoulou came first with 10:21, Eleni Economou came second and Mara Marli third. The event came to a close with a promise to meet again in Athens next March.
