The Athens-Philadelphia route will operate daily by an Airbus A330-300 and depart from Athens at 11:35am and arrive in Philadelphia at 3:30pm. The return flight will depart from Philadelphia at 4:25pm and arrive in Athens the following day at 9:15am. All times are local. “2015 was an all-time high record for us, with the highest passenger numbers since our beginning of operations. With foreign visitors up by 26 percent and the USA market growing at double-digit rates, American Airlines, a world leader airline, is a key-player and a significant contributor to this growth”, said Ioanna Papadopoulou, the director of communications & marketing at Athens International Airport (AIA), on the occasion of the new service. “We remain committed to continue cooperating closely with our airline partner, supporting its developmental efforts and plans for further expansion and growth in the Athens market.” The daily flight, operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft will offer 27 lie-flat, fully aisle-accessible Business Class suites, 259 Economy Class seats and personal in-flight entertainment for every customer on board. The larger -300 variant of the A330 will provide an additional 238 seats to the route per week compared to the A330-200 in 2015. From Philadelphia, American’s largest hub in the Northeast USA, Greek customers can connect on to nearly 160 destinations across the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America. American is in the midst of more than $3 billion in planned improvements to give customers a superior travel experience around the world. These investments include fully lie-flat seats; international Wi-Fi; more in-flight entertainment options and power outlets; a new, modern design for lounges worldwide including in PHL; and an upgraded assortment of complimentary healthy food, cocktails and more.
