Surveys, Trends & Stats CNT Luxury Trends Take Spotlight in Athens Event by GTP editing team 25 April 2016 written by GTP editing team 25 April 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 11 So what’s trending in the world of travel and lifestyle? Well, the UK edition of Conde Nast Traveler (CNT) revealed its Luxury Trends on Wednesday at the new Otto Resto Bar in central Athens’ buzzing Agia Eirinis district. Ahead of its 20th anniversary, CNT is eager to know who wants what and be ready to share the know-how. So every year the magazine carries out its own independent survey on luxury travel and lifestyle. The trend this year? Luxury travel is about unique experiences, emotions and pleasures. It is about discovering the unknown… everything from Iran and Sudan to a lesser known Greek island. Findings showed that travelers are wealthier and prepared to spend more on their experiences, which are not only about indulging in the lavish but also about pursuing the luxury of culture, adventure and exploration as well as having authentic experiences. Holidaymakers today are prepared to spend up to £11,000 per person to do something extraordinary and special. Travel is all things cutting-edge, forward-thinking and progressive, from design and architecture to fashion and innovative shopping. It’s also about the right app. So what are millennial travelers looking for? “Hipster Healing” – lots of cosmology workshops and meditation in the woods; “Power Tourists” – smart phone-planned weekends and short breaks on top of their other holidays; “Cool Conferences” – business and pleasure = bleisure; “Sexy Sustainability” – all about being green yet glamorous, fun but also fearsomely followed through; “New Tech” for the technology savvy; “Next-Gen Family Holidays” about sending the kids off to fun learning camps; “The Rise of the Young Codger” – for the 40-somethings seeking rave festivals and weaving workshops; “Social Media: Back to the Future” – meeting or getting suggestions from real people – the locals.
