Thessaloniki – Sporades Ferry Connection to Launch in June

Flyingcat-4Greek coastal ferry operator Hellenic Seaways announced on Wednesday that its new route connecting Thessaloniki with the Sporades islands will launch on June 16.

According to an announcement, the new route will be performed by the catamaran speed boat (passenger-only) Flying Cat 4, which has a capacity of 440 passengers and will connect Thessaloniki with the Sporades islands in less than three hours with a speed up to 40 knots.

The vessel will depart from Thessaloniki daily at 9am towards the islands of SkopelosAlonissosSkiathos. The return route will take place every evening at 7:10pm from Skiathos with stops at Alonissos and Skopelos and arrive in Thessaloniki at 10:45pm. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the ferry service will include a stop at the Glossa Port of Skopelos.

“We are pleased to return to the Thessaloniki – Sporades route with a speed boat after two years and we hope that both Greek and foreign visitors will benefit from the daily route both for daily and long vacations”, Hellenic Seaways’ first vice president and CEO, Antonios Agapitos, said.

The Thessaloniki – Sporades islands ferry connection will run until September 25. The fast connection of the destinations is expected to contribute to an increase in domestic tourism during the summer season.
