This week we introduce Dimitris Koutsolioutsos, the founder & CEO of Farmers Republic, the first Greek covered market for certified organic products, fresh, dry and packaged. Mr Koutsolioutsos started in 2012 when he introduced the online platform www.gineagrotis.gr (meaning ‘become a farmer’), a community-supported agriculture service allowing city dwellers to ‘rent’ a patch of land from a farmer, tell the farmer what they would like to have grown on it and get their own fresh vegetables delivered to them weekly. Its success led to the first physical and virtual Farmers Republic organic food store, which opened in February 2014 and started offering next day delivery within the E.U. in May, due to popular demand. Farmers Republic organic food market works as a liaison between farmers and consumers, with emphasis on required certifications and quality controls. It is also an e-shop that allows producers to create a profile at no cost and sell their products online, with same day delivery in Greece and next day delivery to all other European Union countries, at a minimum shipping fee for the buyer. Apart from stores in Greece, Farmers Republic has already achieved a dynamic presence abroad. Farmers Republic’s aim is to make Greek products available at each corner of the world, for everyone one to taste the Greek flavors, the rich Greek production and reap the benefits of a fertile land. Inspired by the dynamism and creativity of the Greek entrepreneurial spirit, LoveGreece was founded in 2013 as an initiative to boost and promote the country’s image abroad by profiling talented and successful Greeks. With their ethos and vision, Greece’s entrepreneurs and professionals are an important aspect of the country worth highlighting to the world. LoveGreece is powered by Gina Mamidaki, the founder of the G & A Mamidakis Foundation.
