Event News Third Mediterranean Yacht Show Sets a New Record by GTP editing team 13 May 2016 written by GTP editing team 13 May 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 The 3rd Mediterranean Yacht Show, held May 7-10 at the medieval seaport of Nafplio, exceeded the expectations of organizers as it attracted the participation of 75 crewed luxury yachts and an increased attendance of luxury charter brokers from all around the world. Organized by the Greek Yachting Association (GYA), the yacht show aimed to highlight yachting’s dynamic for luxury travel in the Mediterranean and globally. Greek National Tourism Organization Secretary General Dimitris Tryfonopoulos with GYA President Michael Skoulikidis. The yacht show welcomed more than 300 yacht brokers from a wide range of countries, including Anguilla, Argentina, Australia, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cyprus, France, Greece, Israel, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States of America. The event also had an exhibition character as 18 industry professionals displayed their yachting services and supplies in venues located at the port. The yacht inspections were accompanied by a varied program of events, including a presentation of Ionian and Peloponnese itineraries by Captain Zois Skrimpias. Cocktail receptions and themed parties on board individual yachts rounded out the days and offered excellent networking opportunities. Numerous on board food-and-wine tastings took place during the yacht show, but as always, the Chefs Competition stole the show, a fact not surprising since fine cuisine is an important factor for a successful charter, according to professionals. The yacht show was attended by the premier global yacht charter companies such as Camper & Nicholsons, Edmiston & Company, Fraser Yachts, Yachting Partners International, Burgess, CharterWorld, CSO Yachts, IYC, Northrop & Johnson, Ocean Independence, Premium Yachts, Yachtzoo, Luxury Charter Group etc. Furthermore, the event was attended by representatives of MYBA, The Worldwide Yachting Association. The 3rd Mediterranean Yacht Show was supported by the Municipality of Nafplio and held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Development & Tourism.
