Piraeus’ East Med Yacht Show Sails Away with Best Impressions

Featuring the latest trends, products and some of the finest boats on the market, the 15th East Med Yacht Show, currently on at the popular Zea Marina in Piraeus, got off to an impressive start.

Inaugurating the event were Shipping and Island Policy Minister Thodoris Dritsas, Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura, Piraeus Mayor Yannis Moralis and Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association President Anthony Stelliatos and Hellenic Yacht Brokers Association President Giorgos Kollintzas.

More than 60 craft, including motor yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans and bareboats, as well as experts and yachting lovers at some 30 kiosks were on hand to talk about the latest trends and products. Greek chartering companies, travel agents and shipbrokers as well as businesses providing services in marine tourism also took part in the event.

“Our goal is for Piraeus to be identified with the world’s biggest yacht shows and in this effort we are working together with the Piraeus municipality. We want to showcase the options available in yachting because we believe that this beautiful city, the country’s largest port and home port can evolve into a  global destination for yachting and much more,” Mr Stelliatos said.

Piraeus mayor, Mr Moralis added that the country’s busiest port was yet again the focus of international interest due to its diverse potential and underlined the importance of marine tourism and shipping to the port city’s further development.

The 15th East Med Yacht Show, under the auspices of the Shipping and Island Policy Ministry, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Region of Attica, Piraeus Municipality and the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), is open to the public and aims to promote the options available in Greek sea tourism.

The six-day happening was organized by the Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association (EPEST) and the Hellenic Yacht Brokers Association (HYBA), in collaboration with the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA), the Greek Professional Bare Boat Owners Association and the Greek Economic Forum.
