The Peloponnese also offers some of Greece’s most beautiful scenery; long and sandy beaches, mountain landscapes, natural trails for hikers to discover and traditional villages that offer all the experience of authentic Greek life dipped in tradition. Divers can also enjoy fantastic shipwreck diving off the Navarino coast. Greek hotel group, Aldemar Resorts runs two luxury resorts in the west Peloponnese, offering ultra-stylish accommodation, idyllic beachfront locations and plenty of facilities: the 5-star Royal Olympian — ideal for couples — and the 5-star Olympian Village — intended for families. Plus, a world-acclaimed Thalasso & Spa Centre on the hotel grounds, which can be considered as an experience on its own. Both resorts are in close distance to ancient Olympia, founded in the 8th century BC and home to the first Olympic Games. One should not miss out on the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, which is one of the most important Greek museums with a long and amazing story to tell. At the Royal Olympian, the price for a double room on half board starts from 244 euros per room for two persons in June. At the Olympian Village, prices start from 218 euros for a double room on half board, for two persons, for the same period. Both have a minimum 5-night stay during summer months. During the summer, easyJet, British Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines fly to Kalamata in the Peloponnese. Flights have already launched and will operate until the end of September. Alternatively, travellers can fly to Athens and hire a car to drive to this “up and coming” mainland destination of Greece.
