The 14 percent increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous record-breaking edition two years ago is indicative of Posidonia’s ability to always outperform its own self and exceed expectations while strengthening its reputation, image and appeal as a must-attend maritime affair, an assertion which is reinforced by strong exhibitors demand for more floor space at next year’s event. Abu Dhabi Shipyards, IntraMare, MIE, Drew Marime Chemicals, Ocean King, Marita as well as Denmark’s and Holland’s pavilions are just a few in the long list of Posidonia 2016 exhibitors who are already reserving more space for their presence at the 2018 event which is expected to fill the Athens Metropolitan Expo to its full capacity across the venue’s 45,000 total sqm of exhibitor floor space. The next Posidonia event is scheduled to be held between June 4-8, 2018. “Posidonia 2016 has managed to set new records in floor space, number of conferences and seminars as well as visitor numbers showcasing the unrivalled appeal the event enjoys amongst the world’s maritime community,” said Theodore Vokos, Executive Director, Posidonia Exhibitions S.A, the event’s organiser. “The vote of confidence we receive from our repeat exhibitors is a recognition that gives us the confidence and drive to work even harder to further improve the overall experience of those who honour us with their participation and attendance every two years,” he added. Posidonia 2016 was held from June 6 – 10 at the Athens Metropolitan Expo and organised under the auspices of the Greek shipping community and the five major associations representing Greek shipping interests: Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy, Municipality of Piraeus, Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, Union of Greek Shipowners, Greek Shipping Cooperation Committee, Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association and Association of Passenger Shipping Companies.
