Greek passenger shipping company Blue Star Ferries on Monday announced a 30 percent discount on the ferry tickets of travellers that will vacation this summer on the islands of Lesvos, Chios, Kos and Leros.

According to an announcement, the company has launched the offer – in cooperation with the islands’ hotel associations – in an effort to reverse the negative climate concerning the four islands due to the refugee crisis.

The offer refers to all categories of passenger tickets, including tickets for cars and motorcycles, provided that travellers present — to the company’s local collaborating agencies — confirmation of at least a 4-night stay in a hotel or lodge on one of the specific destinations.

“This action aims to support the islands that welcomed and hosted massive numbers of refugees for a long time and to boost their tourism”, the company said.
