The preferences of Greek travellers for the upcoming Holy Spirit Monday holiday were revealed on Thursday by Trivago booking and price comparison site, which showed just what those in Greece have been searching online for their long weekend getaway.

The searches were carried out by Greek users from March 1 to June 14 for trips in the June 17-21 period.

The Holy Spirit Monday holiday is on June 20 this year.

According to Trivago, Halkidiki has topped the list, knocking Mykonos from first to second place. Santorini comes up third on the list while fourth and fifth place are occupied by Athens and Thessaloniki respectively.

The only destination abroad preferred by the Greeks for their long weekend getaway is Rome, which comes up sixth on the list. Lefkada follows in the seventh place and Parga in the eighth, just like last year. The list of top ten preferred destinations of the Greeks concludes with Chania and Thassos.
