Air Travel Civil Aviation Workers Call Off Five-day Strike in Greece by GTP editing team 17 June 2016 written by GTP editing team 17 June 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 10 The union representing the staff of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, which had scheduled a five-day strike next week, on Friday called off industrial action following a meeting with Greek Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis. The Federation οf Associations οf Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (OSYPA) had announced the strike, set to run June 20-24, in protest of the long-term lease of 14 regional airports, plans to develop 23 regional airports and the reorganization of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority. In an announcement, OSYPA said that Minister Spirtzis presented a draft organizational plan that “moves within the commonly accepted principles and philosophy” of the federation. The civil aviation workers were assured that their jobs were not at risk. According to industry professionals, the five-day strike would have disrupted air traffic at mainly Greece’s regional airports.
