Welcome to “Pioneering Greeks”, the weekly column of GTP Headlines, which highlights the Greeks that stand out for their creative thinking in the business world. “Pioneering Greeks” is a collaboration between LoveGreece.com and Greek Travel Pages (GTP).

This week we introduce Wise Greece, a non profit organization operating as a social enterprise with a double mission: to promote Greek products and support unprivileged people and institutions simultaneously.

The organization aims to promote top quality Greek products of small and local producers while supporting soup kitchens, social groceries, orphanages and various institutions, by providing them with food.

Wise Greece selects the best Greek products and places them in various points of sale in Greece and abroad. Through a set of concerted efforts, the organization promotes the products as well as the benefits of the Mediterranean diet in order to raise awareness and attract support from responsive consumers from all around the world.

Greek producers donate a percentage of their sales to Wise Greece, in order to cover the basic food needs of charitable institutions and non profit organizations which support homeless, children and the elderly.

Melina Taprantzi is the founder of Wise Greece and, with her partners, envisions a future where social entrepreneurship will help Greece and its people to overcome social problems and stop being deprived of essential goods.

Inspired by the dynamism and creativity of the Greek entrepreneurial spirit, LoveGreece was founded in 2013 as an initiative to boost and promote the country’s image abroad by profiling talented and successful Greeks. With their ethos and vision, Greece’s entrepreneurs and professionals are an important aspect of the country worth highlighting to the world. LoveGreece is powered by Gina Mamidaki, the founder of the G & A Mamidakis Foundation.
