Happenings ‘Dinner in the Sky’ Serves Brussels, Marks 10th Anniversary by GTP editing team 22 June 2016 written by GTP editing team 22 June 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Dinner in the Sky earlier this month marked its 10th anniversary with 10 Michelin-star chefs whipping up meals for 220 people on 10 platforms simultaneously raised over Brussels. A Belgian concept created in Brussels, Dinner in the Sky wanted to share and celebrate at home and highlight Michelin-starred Belgian gastronomy in the most surreal possible way. The special 10th anniversary event lasted five days — June 1-5 — during which star chefs Yves Mattagne (Sea Grill), Lionel Rigolet (Comme chez Soi), Pascal Devalkeneer (Chalet de la Forêt), David Martin (La Paix), Giovanni Bruno (Senzanome), Bart De Pooter (De Pastorale), Luigi Ciciriello (La Truffe Noire), Viki Geunes (’t Zilte), Filip Claeys (De Jonkman) and Wout Bru (Brasserie Bru) did their culinary magic, lifted by 10 Dufour cranes into the Brussels sky complete with candles and gigantic birthday cake with the Atomium as a backdrop. Each day, the 10 Chefs prepared and personally served a gastronomic 5-course menu for the 220 guests, including one lunch and two dinners. Meanwhile, the proud creators — David Ghysels and Stefan Kerkhofs — have seen their concept grow into a popular experience expanding into 55 countries, including Malaysia, Vietnam and Guatemala, and set to take Peru, Malta and Thailand by storm. Whether it’s the Las Vegas Strip, Sydney Bay, Paris’ Champ de Mars, Monaco’s marina, the City of the Gods in Teotihuacan, the Athens Acropolis, the medina in Marrakech, Dinner in the Sky has managed to literally win a place “at the top”, achieving a fine reputation among foodies, travelers and locals alike.
