Ready for Takeoff: Aviation & Flight Academy Launches for Greek High School Students

Youngsters aged 14-16 will have the chance to sit in the pilot’s seat during the Hellenic American University Aviation & Flight Academy summer session which runs through to July 15.

Geared to high school students keen on science and aviation, the summer session offers 45 hours of instruction counting towards three college credits, and six ECTS credits.

Aviation and Flight AcademyOffered through the Hellenic American College in cooperation with Athens International Airport (AIA), the program covers aviation history, flight operations and aircraft maintenance, ground operations as well as air traffic management and includes enhanced observation and experiential learning through visits to the Athens Military Museum, Aegean Airlines, AIA and Megara General Aviation Airport. Upon completion, students will have a chance to fly with a state-of-the-art flight simulator.

Professional pilot and certified flight and ground instructor, Dr Triant Flouris, Provost and University Professor at Hellenic American University and formerly dean of the School of Aviation Sciences at Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire, US, will be teaching the courses.

Classes are held at Hellenic American College (22 Massalias St, Athens) and include a one-hour lunch break provided by the Academy.
