The announcement came after the cofounder and owner of gas company Jetoil, Kyriakos Mamidakis, 84, was found dead in his home in the northern Athenian suburb of Dionysos on Sunday. The Greek media refer to a possible suicide. Jetoil recently filed for bankruptcy and protection from its creditors after debts reached some 314 million euros. Following the news of his death, press reports then surfaced and made connections between Jetoil and the companies of entrepreneurs Gina and Marilena Mamidakis, who responded with the following announcement: “The tourism enterprises bluegr Hotels & Resorts and Athinais Cultural Center, as well as the G & A Mamidakis Foundation and Gina and Marilena Mamidakis, of the family of Giorgos Mamidakis, founder of Mamidakis Petroleum Group, have no corporate or business relationship or any association with the company MAMIDOIL – JETOIL SA.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
