This week we introduce Dimitris Stainhauer, a dynamic and pioneer entrepreneur who at the age of 30 conquered the international markets with a spirit made from a product found exclusively in Greece: the Mastiha of Chios island. So he created Skinos, a liquor from mastiha, a tree that grows only on the Greek island of Chios. Moreover, what make Skinos unique is its production process from cultivation to the final product, as it is based on a revived old authentic tradition. This gives the product a distinct taste and makes it stand out among other similar products. Skinos is already exported in many countries and has gained fans around the world. The spirit has also received many awards in several competitions, thanks to its distinctive aroma and unique taste. In 2011, Skinos scooped up the Gold medal at the San Fransisco World Spirits Competition, the most prestigious event of its kind. Furthermore, since 2011, Dimitris organizes the Mediterranean Cocktails Competition, a leading event concerning cocktails and bartendering under a Mediterranean theme. He aims to spread the culture of Mediterranean drinks, seeing that it is missed from the global cocktails list. Inspired by the dynamism and creativity of the Greek entrepreneurial spirit, LoveGreece was founded in 2013 as an initiative to boost and promote the country’s image abroad by profiling talented and successful Greeks. With their ethos and vision, Greece’s entrepreneurs and professionals are an important aspect of the country worth highlighting to the world.
