The meeting took place in Eleusina’s old olive mill and was attended by the vice governor of Western Attica Yiannis Vasileiou and members of the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA) and the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Tourist & Travel Agencies (fedHATTA). During the meeting, the travel agents were informed by Western Attica’s regional director, Aristea Vavoula, on the area’s tourism wealth, which includes both religious and cultural treasures. The professionals also learned of the general tourism policy of Attica through a presentation given by the region’s executive regional councillor for tourism promotion, Eleni Dimopoulou. After the meeting, the travel agents were taken on a tour to the area’s archaeological site and also introduced to the lesser-known “corners” of Eleusina and received information on its history and tradition. fedHATTA was represented by the federation’s president Lysandros Tsilidis and board member Yiorgos Paliouras. Many members of HATTA attended the tour including travel agents from Amphitrion, Argo Travel, Bellair, City Plaza Travel, Cosmoroes, Crete4U, Greece Sun Life, ION Tours, IMT Services, Manessis Travel, Mideast Travel, Mouzenidis Travel, Noulas Travel, Ovadias Tours, Panhellas and Theodores Travel. Eleusis 2021: Eleusina is one of the three Greek cities shortlisted in the competition for the title of European Capital of Culture 2021 in Greece, to be announced this November.
