The hosting of the exhibition is just one of the actions Nafpaktia’s municipality plans to carry out in an effort to extend the season and develop thematic forms of tourism. In a meeting at the Tourism Ministry on Wednesday between Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and Nafpaktia Mayor Panagiotis Loukopoulos and Deputy Mayor Ioannis Sypsas, it was agreed for the ministry to support and promote the exhibition. Also discussed during the meeting was implementing the necessary procedures for the recognition of new thermal springs in the area. This is part of the ministry’s new tourism policy for the development and promotion of thermal-spa tourism and the introduction of new thermal spa destinations in Greece. The ministry aims to enrich the Greek tourism product and create new revenue sources for local communities and economies. Ms Kountoura and Nafpaktia Mayor also examined the region’s potential to develop new hotels and carry out new tourism investments. The Municipality of Nafpaktia is a municipality in the Region of Western Greece, established with the implementation of the “Kallikrates Program” by joining the pre-existing municipalities of Apodotia, Nafpaktos, Platanos, Pilini, Antirio and Chalkia.
