The airport’s passenger traffic during July amounted to 2.37 million passengers, exceeding the respective 2015 levels by 11 percent. Both domestic and international passengers demonstrated strong increase of 9.7 percent and 11.7 percent respectively. Greek travellers continued to travel by air and presented an increase of 20 percent, while foreign residents also showed a robust increase of 8 percent. Overall, during the January-July 2016 period, the airport’s passenger traffic exceeded 11 million (9.4 percent increase). Both domestic and international passenger traffic grew by 12.4 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively. Also, the number of Greek and foreign travellers rose by 15 percent and 6 percent, respectively. In addition, the number of flights to Athens Airport during the first seven months of the year reached 107,552, recording a significant increase of 7.3 percent. Both domestic flights and international flights grew at similar levels of 7.4 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively.
