Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas on Wednesday discussed ways to develop and promote Greece as a medical tourism destination.

Kountoura_MardasDuring a meeting at the Tourism Ministry, the two ministers focused on necessary actions to launch medical tourism products and also explored the role of rehabilitation centers in medical tourism development.

Moreover, given that the development of wellness/spa tourism is included in the ministry’s tourism strategy, Kountoura and Mardas also discussed proposals and plans for the promotion of wellness/spa tourism products and services.

Moreover, as part of the wider cooperation of the two ministries for the promotion of thematic tourism in Greece, Kountoura and Mardas discussed a request submitted by organizers of international sailing races who expressed interest to hold events in Greece on the style of “America’s Cup”.
