Ukraine International AirlinesUkraine International Airlines (UIA) carried 487 aided passengers — 392 children and their companions, and 95 wounded ATO soldiers — within the framework of its large-scale Humanitarian Carriage Program during the July 2015 – July 2016 period. UIA also carried over 30 tons of humanitarian cargo from the US, Canada and Israel.

“Historically, humanitarian and charity carriage has been our company`s top priority and an integral part of UIA corporate social responsibility strategy”, UIA Corporate Press Secretary, Evgeniya Satska, recently said in an announcement.

To systematize these activities, in July 2015 UIA launched the Humanitarian Carriage Program, a unique initiative that no other carrier worldwide is currently implementing.

The airline made a commitment to book two seats on every scheduled flight, including long-haul services, to carry two aided persons i.e. seriously ill children who fly to foreign countries to undergo surgery and receive medical care; military personnel who took part in anti-terrorist operation in Eastern Ukraine, sustained physical injuries, and need to undergo rehabilitation courses in specialized medical institutions abroad; and accompanying persons.

Therefore, annually UIA guarantees over 86 thousand priority seats to carry the above-mentioned categories of passengers.

“We are glad to make a contribution to the recovery of those facing the life-or-death emergency”, Satska said, adding that the company hopes to boost operations within the program and lend support to passengers who need to undergo treatment and rehabilitation abroad.
