Surveys, Trends & Stats SETE Chief on Twitter: Late Bookings Indicate Good Tourism Season for Greece by GTP editing team 19 August 2016 written by GTP editing team 19 August 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 24 The strong last minute demand in bookings to Greece in July indicates a very good tourism season for the next quarter, considering that something unexpected does not occur, Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) President Andreas Andreadis said on Twitter on Thursday. Andreadis cited Amadeus figures for Greece in July (seen below) which confirm the strong last minute bookings trend from most European markets except France and Belgium. The data Andreadis tweeted shows that bookings made through the Amadeus system in July, compared with the corresponding month in 2015, increased by 22.5 percent from Poland, 21.2 percent from the UK, 15.8 percent from Austria, 11.7 percent from the Netherlands, 9.8 percent from Switzerland, 7 percent from Italy, 6.7 percent from Norway, 3.9 percent from Russia and 1.9 percent from Germany. On the other hand, July bookings from France (-8.8 percent) and Belgium (-17.9 percent) show a drop. In another tweet, Andreadis reminded that demand is not the same for all of Greece’s destinations, as some are facing “some particular problems”. SETE’s goal by end-2016 is for the total number of international arrivals to meet a target of 25 million (six percent increase) and tourism revenue to reach 14.55 billion euros (a 6.4 percent increase).
