Then the Mykonos Run 2016 is for you. Whether amateur or professional, runners are invited to participate in the September 17 sporting event aimed at highlighting the island’s major landmarks and locations. The event, which includes 5km and 10km road races as well as an 800m kids run, is organized by the Mykonos Municipality in collaboration with Out Loud event services. Awards include cups to the winners of each race (men – women), silver and bronze medals to second and third place winners as well as trophies to the oldest and youngest runners. Participation certificates will be given to all runners who cross the finish line. “Mykonos residents and visitors, will have the chance through their participation in the specially-designed trails to learn more about local monuments, sites and attractions. In this way, sport meets local history and culture. I invite all Mykonos residents to convey the spirit of tourism expansion,” Mykonos Mayor Konstantinos Koukas said of the event. Meanwhile, Mykonos Run participants are entitled to a series of discounts at local businesses and services including 30 percent off Seajets tickets.
