Despite the ongoing refugee influx and the country’s financial woes, holidaymakers still have a soft spot for Greece, flocking to its shores for some sea, sun and fine food. Greece has been voted number 1 followed by Italy and the US. The top 10 list is completed (in order) by South Africa, France, Spain, India, Australia, Thailand and Mexico. Meanwhile, the Greek islands also feature in the top three island choices of CN Traveller’s online Readers’ Travel Awards poll. The Greek isles come after Maldives in first place, and are followed by Spain’s Balearic Islands, Sicily, Seychelles, St Lucia, Bali, Koh Samui, Malta and St Barth’s.
