ECOWEEK to Suggest Sustainable Design Solutions for Thessaloniki

Following a series of events in Greece and abroad, ECOWEEK is scheduled to visit Thessaloniki on November 14-20 to suggest new ideas and sustainable design solutions for the northern Greek city through its International Conference & Sustainable Design Workshops.

ecoweek_thess_4The topic of the conference this year is “Placemaking in One Planet” and will see the participation of architects from Greece, Germany, UK and Italy.

The conference includes sustainable design workshops and will bring together students from Greece and abroad. The workshops will run November 15-18 and the results will be presented to the public on Saturday, November 19.

Moreover, during the week of the conference, parallel actions and events — such as lectures, panels and exhibitions — will be held in cooperation with the Hotelia-Philoxenia international exhibition.

The ECOWEEK conference is free of charge to the general public. Registration is required for participation in the workshops.

The conference will take place under the auspices of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Architecture faculty), the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Architects’ Club of Thessaloniki and in cooperation with TIF-HELEXPO, the International Exhibition Hotelia-Philoxenia and AKTO Art & Design College.

ECOWEEK in Thessaloniki is coordinated by Despina Kouinoglou, Agronomist and Cand. of Landscape Architecture Postgraduate Program, and is organized by the ECOWEEK team: Eleni – Vasiliki Alexi (Archit.), Lina – Luna Kapeta ( Landscape Architect ), Despina Kouinoglou (Agronomist – Landscape Architect), Apostolia Michalou (Archit.), Dimitrios Nanos (Archit.), Natalie Nanou (Archit.), Antonis Semertsidis (Archit. -epmforward.gr).

ecoweek_thess_1The Greek international non-profit organisation ECOWEEK has been founded and is coordinated by Dr. Elias Messinas (Archit.), social entrepreneur and environmental consultant in order to promote  and raise awareness on environmental issues and promote the sustainability principles.

ECOWEEK was founded in Greece in 2005 and today is active in 15 countries and has an international network of members in 54 countries.
