The appointment became effective July 1, 2016. Georgios has taken over Alitalia’s management in Greece based in Athens (supporting also the markets of Cyprus & Malta) and is the first local Greek Country Manager the company has ever appointed ever since it launched operations between Greece and Italy. He joined Alitalia Greece in 1998 as Key Account Manager Business, a position he held successfully for four years, until he was appointed by Alitalia as Country Manager for Syria & Iraq. His expatriate management career continued in 2006, being positioned as an Area Manager Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan based in Teheran. Later in 2009 he took over the Country management of Poland for the six coming years based in Warsaw. The next stop for his international career in Alitalia was Romania and Moldova, continuing under the same duties to lead Alitalia’s local team, based in Bucharest. Currently, the leading Italian airline (member of Etihad Airline Partners & SkyTeam) operates with all newly refitted Airbus 31x/32x family aircrafts and redesigned onboard service experience from Athens to Rome-Fiumicino, four times per day and seasonally connects Italy with Thessaloniki, Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes and Heraklion.
