Aiming to attract more tourists from India to Greece, the secretary general of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), Dimitris Tryfonopoulos, on Friday met with Karnataka’s Tourism Minister Priyank Kharge on the sidelines of the international trade fair IFTM Top Resa 2016 in Paris.

Karnataka is the eighth biggest state in India with a population of over 60 million inhabitants.

During the meetings, the prospects of bilateral tourism cooperation between Greece and the state of Karnataka were discussed.

“India is a big market and Indian nationals love Greece. They honor the cultural tradition of our country and consider it equal to theirs”, Tryfonopoulos said.

“It is strategically important for the GNTO to properly promote the Greek tourism product in the market of India, as this will bear fruit for the benefit of the Greek economy and tourism”, he said, adding that an improved air connection between the two countries would help achieve the goal.
