Event News EU-Arab World High Level Summit to Take Place in Athens by GTP editing team 30 September 2016 written by GTP editing team 30 September 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 European and Arab government and business leaders will be brought together in Athens in November to discuss strategies of EU-Arab cooperation and partnership between the two major economic and political blocs. On the initiative of the Greek government, the EU-Arab World Summit will be held on November 3-4 at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall. “The First Euro-Arab World Summit is expected to lay the foundation for lively and purposeful European-Arab dialogue”, an announcement said. The summit will bring together European and Arab government and business leaders including prime ministers and ministers as well as many senior representatives from the EU commission. The discussion will focus on the following themes: geopoliticals, culture, energy, Greek economy, post-oil economy in the Arab world, European-Arab economic partnership, potential of Greece for business and investments and the potential of partnership in infrastructure development in the Arab countries. The high-level summit will be held under the auspices of the President of Greece, H.E. Prokopis Pavlopoulos and endorsed by the Prime Minister of Greece H. E. Alexis Tsipras who will also deliver a keynote address at the Summit. Confirmed speakers at the summit include Dr. Nikos Kotzias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece; Giorgos Stathakis, Minister of Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism of Greece; Stergios Pitsiorlas, Chairman, Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund; Dimitris Tryfonopoulos, General Secretary, Greek National Tourism Organization; H.E. Mr. Tammam Saeb Salam, Prime Minister of Lebanon; Jawad Anani, Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan; H.E. Mr Abdul Rahim Hassan Al Naqi, Secretary General, Federation of GCC Chambers; and Dimitris Avramopoulos, Commissioner, Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, European Commission. European officials and international organizations will also attend. The summit is organized by the leading, Arab conference organizing group Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal and the Delphi Economic Forum of Greece and it features the largest Middle Eastern construction group Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) as a strategic sponsor.
