karl-lagerfeldGerman fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has decided to enter the hospitality business with his own international hotel brand to include resorts, restaurants, clubs and residential real estate.

The 83-year-old inked a licensing deal on Monday, with Amsterdam-based Brandmark Collective BV. The Karl Lagerfeld Hotel & Resorts chain is expected to welcome its first member in 2018 at the Lisboa Palace Complex in Macau.

Lagerfeld has been eyeing the hospitality business for quite some time now, lending his creative flair to hotel designs in Paris, Monaco and Miami.

The man behind haute couture hothouses Chanel and Fendi will join other “colleagues” including Versace, Bulgari and Giorgio Armani, who chose to take fashion a step further expanding their activities to include hotels.

Lagerfeld Hotels & Resorts management is currently “in the process of studying other opportunities to open other properties around the world,” it said in a statement.
