One of the largest sporting events held in the Greek capital, the 30th Athens Run is expected this year to draw in more than 20,000 runners who will test their endurance in the 10km, 5km and 3km races. Organized by the City of Athens’ Culture, Youth and Sports Organization (OPANDA) with the support of charity group Oloi Mazi Boroume (Together We Can), the 30th Athens Run kicks off at 9.30am at the Panathenian Stadium, with Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis firing the starting pistol. In collaboration with Oloi Mazi Boroume, organizers are hoping to gather long-term food items which will go towards the needs of the Athens Municipality Reception And Solidarity Center. In the meantime, participants will be able to use OASA public transportation for free between 7.30am and 1pm. A mini expo at Karaiskaki Square, nutritional workshops for youngsters, informative events and happenings will take place on the sidelines of the event.
