Signature Travel’s Greek educational program to India includes visits to Ancient Olympia, museums and schools in Greece.

Greek travel agency Signature Travel, in collaboration with consultants MTC Group, have announced the launch next year of educational tourism programs to Greece for students in India.

The travel agency said it has arranged seven-day educational trips for students from Indian high schools to Greece next year.

signature_travel_1“The more Greece becomes familiar to India, the more Indian tourists will visit us. Greece is more affordable and closer to India than the rest of Europe,” said Signature Travel director Maria Alifrangi.

“When young Indian students return to their families excited about Greece, they are the finest ambassadors of Greek tourism to India’s emerging tourism market.”

The move comes after a series of talks between Signature Travel and school officials in India and is a first opening to the vast Indian market. In the meantime, school directors from India were introduced last week to Signature Travel’s proposed educational program, which included visits to Ancient Olympia, museums and schools in Greece.

“Greek culture and especially the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia were the main reasons we chose Greece as an educational tourism destination. Indian students are excited about the history of the Olympic Games, they want to visit the site where it all began, feel the atmosphere of the ancient stadium….” said Dr Ram Singh, director of Ranchi public school in Delhi.

“In India, students are taught Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. In addition to studying Greek philosophy and history, students should be able to gain extra knowledge by visiting the land that bore this philosophy,” aded Mindo Aggarwal, director of the Chennai public school.
