Diamantis PithisOfficial Tourism Message

In 2015 Greece managed to increase the capacity of incoming tourists over 2014. In July 2016 an impressive all-time record number was recorded for monthly arrivals 3,3 million! This would have been excellent news indeed if only it occurred with a simultaneous increase of the average tourist spending in the country. Unfortunately it didn’t.

Given these two major contradicting factors we can safely conclude that only 50% of the goal was achieved. Greece has succeeded to attract more customers as well as being included among the very top leaders in popular destinations worldwide.

Yet the challenge for 2017 apart from sustaining the same positive trend in absolute arrival numbers, is to provide the average tourist with even better, interesting and quality stimuli in order to spend more on restauration, entertainment, cruises, excursions, nightlife, cultural event just to mention a few.

This however, cannot happen overnight and certainly not without the coordinated effort of all contributing sectors of the Greek Tourist Industry, both public and private.

The WTM 2016 is an excellent chance for all the Philoxenia participants to join their forces, experience and know how so that they can promote and offer the thousands of visitors even better products with greater value for their money and diversity of choice.

Like in the past the Argo Travel Group will join in with representatives from the HQs and London offices who they will be delighted to meet and assist both visitors as well as associates.
