According to data provided by the Greek Tourism Federation (SETE) on the prospects for the Greek tourism industry, tourism is once again expected to constitute one of the main sectors that will drive the future growth of the Greek economy in the coming years. It is the duty of all the stakeholders to support our tourism industry as it will immensely contribute to the Greek GDP and add much needed jobs to our economy. Posidonia has been active in the MICE sector for five decades as the leading organiser of trade fairs in Greece and specializing in events for the maritime industry and sea tourism. Our main event -the international shipping exhibition Posidonia that takes place every two years in Greece- showcases and promotes the country’s potential as an ideal venue to host big scale international business events thus contributing to the future development of the MICE sector in the region. At the same time, Posidonia has always contributed directly to the local economy, with its thousands of visitors and exhibitors boosting the tourism industry and related sectors every two years. It is estimated that more than 10.000 people visit the country for the exhibition and some €60 million are generated for the local economy during Posidonia week by exhibitor and visitor spending on hotels, restaurants, business meetings, hospitality events, stand constructions, transportations, customs clearance and movement of exhibits etc. As part of our organisation’s commitment to promote Greece, we launched back in 2011 The Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum, which has become the most important business platform for the Sea Tourism sector in the East Med. The Posidonia Forum creates the opportunity for many Greek destinations, ports and marinas, service providers, hospitality experts and many more to promote their products and services to the cruise and yachting industries, as well as international investors. Leaders of the sea tourism industry from all over the world gather at the forum to explore new investment opportunities in the region, identify new destinations for their itineraries and create new synergies. On behalf of Posidonia Exhibitions SA, we wish all Greek delegations a successful and fruitful participation at the international and national events they will attend.
