Event News ITB Berlin Relocates Greece, Gives Arab Destinations Central Space by GTP editing team 4 November 2016 written by GTP editing team 4 November 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 12 Greece and several other major tourism destinations will be relocated at ITB Berlin 2017 in Germany on March 8-12 with Arab destinations moving into the travel trade show’s spotlight. Organizers of the event, which attracts more than 180,000 visitors and brings together over 10,000 exhibitors from some 180 countries, are saying the decision comes after taking travel industry changes into account. “In recent years there has been an increase in demand for more floor space and two-tier stands for certain markets which up to now we have been unable to satisfy. Several display halls already have waiting lists. By reorganizing the halls to suit the market, we are now able to meet this demand,” said David Ruetz, head of ITB Berlin. The ITB hall sections have been re-organized with central spaces now featuring fast-growing markets of the Arab states. The United Arab Emirates have moved to a new central location in Hall 2.2. Egypt, Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia will be in Hall 4.2 as of 2017. Major Mediterranean destinations, including Greece, France, Gibraltar, Portugal, Cyprus and Spain, have been relocated to the entrance areas in Halls 1.1 and 2.1, directly next the South Entrance. Organizers say that there is a better concentration of markets, which makes it easier for trade visitors to plan their visit. For a revised map of the fair grounds, go here.
